Anesthesia

There are multiple options for anesthesia for dental procedures at Duluth Family Dental. Local anesthesia is always given to our patients requesting or requiring this service. Nitrous oxide sedation is also available to our patients, either administered alone or in combination with local anesthetics. This combination is available to our hygiene patients if requested as well.

IV sedation or sleep dentistry may also be an option for patients who are fearful or anxious about dental procedures. Please be sure to ask our staff about the options that best suit your needs and comfort.

When dental surgery is needed, we offer IV sedation administered by Dr. Aturaliya in conjunction with local anesthesia. This allows the patient to be treated in a semi-conscious state. During the procedure, the patient is fully monitored for safety by our professionally trained staff, who are always prepared for any emergency that may arise.

General anesthesia is also an option offered for patients. For this option, the patient is seen in the Pavilion Surgery Center, conveniently located right next door to our offices. A board certified Anesthesiologist administers the anesthesia and Dr. Aturaliya performs the procedure at the Center. All children under the age of 16 who need any dental procedure can be treated in the Pavilion Surgery Center if they are extremely fearful or uncooperative in the regular dental office setting.
